P A R T 1:
We decided to road trip our honeymoon; From the south of France to Italy, following our love for food and wine.
Marc and I got married in Ramatuelle at the beach in summer 2018. Ramatuelle lies in the Provence Alpes Côte d’ Azur region in southeastern France. Between beautiful pine trees and la belle bleu, as the French call the sea along the beautiful Côte d’Azur.

When we first took a trip to the south of France, we barely knew each other. The whole trip could have ended up being a terrible desaster, so many things could have gone wrong but the trip turned out to be one of the best ones I have taken so far and ended up to be the beginning of a new chapter in both our lifes.
One year and many travels later Marc proposed on a hike a long la belle bleu in Ramatuelle, on a cliff below Chateau Volterra. It used to be an iconic part of the Saint-Tropez cultural and artistic scene.

After a short hike we ended up in a small beach restaurant where we celebrated our engagement. Just the too of us, feet in the sand and a chilled glass (turned into a bottle) Rosé in our hands.
We chose to get married in Ramatuelle as it represented so much of who we are together. A lot of sun, the sea, feet in the sand, lots of fresh fish, chilled rosé and effortless chic.
This as a short introduction to why we started our honeymoon in the south of France.
We spend our wedding night at La Réserve (in the same room we stayed in the first time we came down to Ramatuelle), the week before the wedding we rented a house with our best friends.
A time to which we love to think back to. As they say: time is all we really have and don‘t. When time is spent well you create loving memories from which you draw energy from your whole life.

From France to Italy, from Rosé to Barolo, our second drive took us to a little but famous town called Barolo where we enjoyed our first of many wine tastings.
We stayed at Marchesi Alfieri in San Martino Alfieri. A winery, which the Restaurant owner of Hirschberg in Zurich raved about when we tasted one of Marchesi Alfieris wines called „Alfiera“. She told us about the history and the stunning views of the estate, we knew this was a place we wanted to stay at during our honeymoon.
Marchesi Alfieri is an historic winery located in the San Martino Alfieri castle in the hills between Asti and Alba. Emanuela, Antonella and Giovanna San Martino di San Germano have been running the business since 1983. The estate’s twenty-one hectares of vineyards produce 130,000 bottles a year.

The estate has an amazing garden where you can enjoy the Marchesi Alfieri wines with a view on to the landscapes of piedmont.

From the hillside on to Portofino along the Ligurian Coast. We had lunch at the Hotel Splendido. This hotel has a spectacular view from it’s terrace over looking the stunning Ligurian bay. A tip my grandparents gave us as they spend many weekends down there with friends enjoying delicious food, wine and limoncello.

The walk to the city center is very picturesque, luckily in June tourism isn’t as bad yet but a daytrip to portofino is ample as the town is very small and can get crowded quickly.
The following two nights we spent just a short drive from Portofino in Sestri Levante. At Hotel Helvetia, in Baia del Sliencio. A hotel I visited several times before with my best friends. S & D you were missed this time, we enjoyed a refreshing Spritz to your health.

A beautiful little bay, not only the view from the balcony is worth the night at Hotel Helvetia the beautiful pool and the cozy restaurant are just as charming...
